Crown and Bridges

Crowns (or caps) are laboratory made custom prosthetics that replace the form and shape of existing teeth. These are fixed in place.

Brides are laboratory made custom made prosthetics that replace a missing tooth by holding onto neighbouring teeth. These are also fixed in place.

Crowns and bridges are made from a variety of materials.

NHS crowns and bridges are made from strong, established materials which offer a great, healthy way of replacing existing and missing teeth.

NHS crowns and bridges however are often limited aesthetically, as in the case of full gold crowns on back teeth or simple white crowns and bridges on front teeth. NHS crowns and bridges possess limited shade matching and whilst tooth coloured on front teeth, there is no specific guaranteed that this will reflect your existing teeth, despite our best efforts to do so.

As a result of this need, significant progress has been made in the field of dental materials science.

Private, metal free cosmetic crown and bridges have been developed to enable lifelike reproduction of natural teeth. These cosmetic restorations can usually be accurately shade matched to your existing teeth and replicate the natural tooth shade, shape, contours and light refracting properties. The end result can be an exquisite reproduction of natural teeth (lighter or otherwise) that can be indistinguishable from natural teeth.

You will need to speak to your dentist to discuss the specific details on a case by case basis.
