White fillings
White filling are an excellent way to restore your teeth to aesthetics and function. Modern materials science has evolved to the level whereby modern aesthetic dental fillings are not only possible, but are in many cases preferable.
In addition to being far more cosmetically pleasing, white fillings (or composites as they are often referred) are capable of bonding and adhering to your teeth in a way that is simply not possible with silver fillings.
In addition to this, although there is no convincing evidence that silver fillings are in any way harmful to your health, many people are unhappy about their mercury content. As a result, more and more people are opting for mercury free, white composite fillings instead. Some people even request to have their existing fillings replaced, although as with any dental restorative procedure, there is a risk of post operative sensitivity - usually minor and lasting a few days at most.
Certain composite white fillings are available on front teeth on the NHS, although you can opt for more cosmetic alternatives and fillings on back teeth privately.
